At Up 2 Speed Training we are all about the details in athletic training. Footwork is very important especially if you want to be an effective offensive threat. During a game on offense, depending on what the defensive scheme is, there will be open areas on the floor where easy shots can be created. Good footwork helps the athlete establish shooting rhythm with the correct pivot. How you get there and score efficiently will depend heavily on your footwork. When moving without the ball to catch and shoot it is imperative to correctly pivot, turn, and step into your shot in two steps. Off the dribble you should get to that open spot with your strong hand in one to three steps and one to two steps with your weak hand depending on where you are on the floor. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are praised for their ability to get to their spots with their excellent footwork and score in rhythm effectively.
