Today I attended Chad’s session with five basketball athletes from College Park High School in Pleasant Hill.  Chad is training three girls and two boys.  The athletes start off with the SMART Stretch Technique then do a series of Dynamic Stretches.  Chad then has them do a series of sprints focusing on good posture, sprinting hands, and knee and toe alignment.  From there the athletes do ladder work focusing on footwork and explosive movements.  Again, Chad focuses on posture and form.  He is evaluating foot, knee, hip, back, shoulder, hand/arm and head position throughout the exercise.  The athletes then do circuit training consisting of core exercises, cone work, and explosive movements all encompassing sport specific exercises.  The athletes do 3 reps at two minute intervals.  Chad then finishes the session with a stationary bike workout that includes a series of core exercises with a medicine ball.  The athletes do three sets for about two to three minutes.  The athletes then close the session with the SMART Stretch Technique.
